2012 Poet Stamps

Not sure how the U.S. Postal Service came up with this selection of poets to honor on stamps, but I can't complain too much. I'm just happy that these stamps are forever stamps.

The only one I hadn't heard of was Hayden - so am about to go to Google and find out about his work. A great idea Poet Stamps ...

Upon Google-ing Robert Hayden, I realise that I have read a bit of his poetry. I believe Rethabile had a poem of Hayden's up on his site. A lovely poem.

I've never seen any of these stamps. Glad to see Gwendolyn Brooks up there. That reminds me, I need to finish reading Hayden's selected poems.

if you were to think of who was the most famous (or infamous) poet of the last century it would have to be allen ginsberg, but i can't imagine him on a postage stamp

at least 2 of these poets did themselves in

i'm glad w.c.w. got on one - so much depends, on a postage stamp, beside the postal mark, unlicked without saliva

Very glad to see old friends Cummings, Roethke, Stevens. Even Plath, whose Colossus (I eccentrically think) is much better than Ariel.

I wish they could have found room for the unjustly underrated Countee Cullen!
