There's a Squirrel in My House!!!

EEK!

I am F-R-E-A-K-I-N-G OUT! Somehow this little vermin has made it into the basement.

Last summer, we mistakenly left our garage door open while we were on vacation for a week. Not the smartest move we've ever made, but luckily no squirrels, rodents, or burglars entered the house. But with the cold temps, this one found it's way into our humble abode.

My husband just came back from Home Depot with a squirrel trap, so we'll see what the morning brings. Yes, we probably should find a less cruel solution, but I'm not wired that way. There's a squirrel in the house and I have young kids. It's either him or us. Guess who's going to win this battle?

You could get a dog. Dogs are great squirrel trappers! :-)

(Ok, seriously, hope you get the squirrel out of there soon.)

That little bugger knocked out my Internet connection at home.

I could tell you some stories. We recently had a squirrel come down the chimney. The chimeny cap blew off in a storm. I came home from work and found some dishes knocked off the counter and broken. But it hid out behind the washer and dryer and I didn't know it was there. We have two dogs, and they kept trying to tell me. In the morning, I moved the washer and dryer and the thing came out and ran around the kitchen and finally it found a hole inn the baseboard and squeezed in and crawled around inside of the walls of our kitchen. We had to hire some professional squirrel hunters to come in and get it out.

I do not like squirrels...

If the one in your house is as menacing as the one in the photo, you'll have a fight on your hands!

May the force be with you.

Yikes! I used to live far out in the country and would occasionaly get bats in my house. Gives me the creeps even now. My rule is that the critters have all of the outside to claim as their own - inside my house they're fair game. I'm all for getting them out alive if possible, sometimes that doesn't work. Good luck with the de-squirreling.

OMG I am cracking up. You managed to find a picture of the most vicious-looking squirrel on the planet! Once, in a class in college, I wrote a whole poem about a squirrel who used to come to the second story window while the class (20th century literature, which was, disgustingly, ALL HEMINGWAY) was going on. They were so aggressive, I imagined one day it was just going to walk right up to me, sticks its claws in my forehead and take a bite. So I feel you on the squirrel thing.

If you need to borrow a dog, my Chloe LOVES to hunt squirrels. It would be like her birthday if I let her catch one!

The pic is so cute, but I've had a crazy experience with a squirrel last summer. I came home from work and was putting my clothes away, clothes I had on my bed and when I lifted my pair of jeans, it started wiggling and I threw it on the floor and it started moving, well I immediately called my landlord who eventually killed the squirrel, it was a big one.

Nice to visit your blog, i'll be coming back for more reading

We lived in an 80-year-old house that was home to many critters, including a mama squirrel that nested in the attic and would climb down into the walls knaw on the baseboards - I feel for you!

Problem Solved. Time of "capture", 10:38AM. Hopefully he didn't tell his buddies how warm it was inside...
