Good vs. Evil

I'm at Starbucks adding reading dates to my Anne Taintor 2010 calendar. It's full of images of '50s women, mostly housewives, with snide little captions accompanying each image (the one pictured is not in the calendar, but that's something I would say ... or do!).

Love my iPhone, but I need to use a physical calendar to see what's coming. I fear over scheduling myself, or worse, missing a date!

The kids are with their dad, and the house is a little too quiet, so I’m here where the espresso machines and steady flow of customers becomes my background noise.

Had one of those “Sweet Sassy Molassey” days (name that reference) today. Best piece of advice I got from a friend: Be Brilliant and Bulletproof. That’s almost as good as Keep Calm and Carry On.

Dana Guthrie Martin has a terrific reading challenge for 2010. Read one poetry collection a month—that’s it. Each month has a theme. For January: Read a poetry collection published the year you were born. Nice.

Stacey Lynn Brown and Oliver de la Paz are looking for submissions for A Face to Meet the Faces: An Anthology of Contemporary Persona Poetry. Seeking poems that work within the literary tradition of persona poetry: poems written as dramatic monologues, whose speakers employ masks, or whose character and voice are different from the poet's own.

I love the Anne Taintor line! I, too, need a physical calendar even though my iPhone would work great for keeping track of things. Plus, with a physical calendar you get art as well.

Love "Be Brilliant and Bulletproof"! I have the Keep Calm and Carry On poster outside my office door at school. It helps.

Sandy, we are on the same wavelenght! I seem to know a lot of teachers who are adpoting the "keep calm" motto.

Jessie, I went without a dayplanner for many years. Now I need it as a double check for all the things coming up in the next few months.
