ForeWord Reviews' Book of the Year Awards

I'm proud to announce that Underlife took the Bronze in ForeWord Reviews' 2009 Book of the Year Awards for poetry! Woo hoo! Thanks to ForeWord Reviews for putting me in the mix with such great poets and poetry collections. It’s quite an honor.

About the same time yesterday, I found out that yet again I was turned down for a Mass Cultural Council Artists Fellowship (FAIL!) But, congrats to the winners and honorable mentions.

Wednesday was a soul-crushing day. But I’m hopeful that today will be much, much better.

Congratulations on the ForeWord award, January! Big honor, indeed!

(Re: MCC, moi aussi. But glad to see such a big list of grantees this year, and that the finalists received something as well.)

Thanks Marie.

You are right. Nice to see more poets being rewarded for talent. But none from the North Shore this cycle. Hmmmm ...

Congrats on your award! Very exciting. Don't see the Artists Council thing as YOUR fail - those people who didn't choose to support you are the fail. :)

i guess this is a case of you win some (foreword bronze) you win some LATER (mcc) :) i was looking for northshore names too after i found out i was not a recipient... sad...

Thanks, all!

Jennifer, I hear you. I probably sound like I'm complaining but I'm not. Well, not really.

I'm very grateful for the ForeWord Reviews honor. The Mass Cultural Council seems to be looking for something I don't offer. And I know there are talented, well-deserving writers who apply every cycle (like you and Marie). Still, I've put in for it four times. I feel like the Susan Lucci of the MCC Awards.
