Finally!

In my hands I hold my completed manuscript, to be sent to a publisher today. Whew! What a relief. Now I can get back to fun stuff like writing new poems and visiting other blogs.

Special thanks to all of those who helped in the revision process.

Whenever I send poems into the world, through that limbo known as the postal service, my world is golden. I haven't been rejected yet. There's a sliver of hope in every unopened letter. I can now go about my life knowing that someone has my work in his or her hands, poems I've labored over for years. And maybe, just maybe, there's an acceptance in my future.

May all of our poetry find safe haven today.

CONGRATULATIONS! That's so great. And I'm so sorry I missed your birthday. I hope it was a fabulous one--and that next year will be even better because you'll be able to look back on the year your book was published.

Congratulations! What an achievement. I'm thrilled for you.

Enjoy the accomplishment and anticipation...then get writing tomorrow!
I have my fingers crossed! Now, go do something to celebrate! Bake a cake decorated with a poem. Roll in the snow. Something memorable. Cookies shaped like Walt Whitman. Get a babysitter and go to some fancy restaurant.

(Gee. Most of these celebrations are centered around food. Hmmm. But then, aren't MOST celebrations?)

Ah, J, congratulations! I love the photo too! So awesome. I give mine a little love kiss sendoff just before dropping it into the mailbox ether.

Not sure where or to whom you are sending the book, but there is currently an open reading for women at three candles press, as well as other first book contest deadlines coming up. I've got info at my other blog here .

Based on the work of yours I've read over the past short 6 months, I can't WAIT to buy your book!

Congrats --

I always say a blessing over a manuscript before I send it out. Not that I've sent out that many.

Best of luck to you with yours.

Bug, Erin--thanks so much for your help these last few weeks. Here's hoping all of our work gets published.

Split Ends--popped over to your blog earlier. Will post a few comments when I get a free moment.

Pepek--your comment reminded me of Sharon Olds' poem "Animal Crackers" and her poet cookies! A little champagne may be in order tonight!

Poet with a Day Job--Will check out those links asap!

Jim--Best of luck to both of us. I have to read your Ali poem.

Congratulations! From what I've read of your poetry on your blog, I think you have the "real thing" in terms of poetry talent, so I'm expecting to order a lovely slim volume of your poetry from Barnes and Noble one of these days :) I can hardly wait!
